A Community Together

Established in 2021 with the goal of wrapping its collective arms around the surrounding communities, the HUB Augusta Collaborative came to be with a mission to pursue  innovative, collaborative solutions that bolster equitable access to all the essential elements of a thriving community.

ABOUT US

What is the HUB

Originally conceived by a "collaborative" of colleagues looking to find solutions to the area's food desert, the HUB evolved into a not for profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of residents and area nonprofits to drive equitable access to education, health and nutrition, housing and economic mobility. The goal of embracing rather than pushing away the neighborhood started through shared space and purpose - through the newly constructed HUB for Community Innovation - and will continue with investments in areas meant to foster innovation, amplify community voices, and build stronger more connected neighborhoods where all residents thrive.

Economic Mobility

The HUB Augusta Collaborative's investments began with plans around economic mobility, creating economic success, power, and autonomy for the area's at risk neighborhoods. This means allowing residents to live comfortably and achieve their goals through businesses, job opportunities, and access to essential services. The HUB believes economic vitality is crucial for a thriving community.

Community Wellness

Healthy neighborhoods provide the conditions that every person needs to thrive. They are places where residents can breathe clean air, enjoy nature, and feel a deep sense of connection and belonging. The HUB works with a broad set of partners to build this sense of neighborhood wellness, which starts with access to healthy foods, outdoor spaces for activities, and wellness programming. Our goal - to see the community flourish.

Cradle-to-Career Education

Great schools anchor thriving neighborhoods. Their ability to uplift culture and community, amplify opportunity for residents, and bring long-term economic value makes them essential to the fabric of a neighborhood. Working with residents, community partners, school systems, and other educational organizations, the HUB Augusta Collaborative desires to build a high-quality education pipeline, starting in infancy and continuing to high school graduation, college, and beyond.

Mixed-Income Housing

Giving legacy residents more choices for where to live while attracting new people to the neighborhood is the cornerstone of our model. One of our goals is to implement mixed-income housing strategies that offer home ownership and high-quality rentals for people and families across a broad range of incomes. The relationships and connections that bloom across socioeconomic levels provide a springboard to success for all residents.

HUB AUGUSTA COLLABORATIVE

Community Starts with People

When initially conceived, the Collaborative desired to help build community where the highest quality early education, housing, healthcare, food access, and connectivity existed. Folded within this vision was a desire to deliver plans that afforded to the neighborhood residents an opportunity to increase their wealth and opportunities - where prosperity was commonplace.

Typically, you will find in these communities high quality schools, homes for every budget, businesses that were incubated within and now serve the community, grocery stores, parks and greenspaces, and walkability. With generations of disinvestment as the only constant, significant change is necessary - and the HUB Augusta Collaborative will look to invest in making hope, choice and prosperity possible. This process starts with Hearing, Understanding, and then establishing a sense of Belonging (HUB).

HUB FOR COMMUNITY INNOVATION

HUB Partners

The HUB for Community Innovation is more than a community center - it's meant to be the heart of the neighborhood where residents, local organizations, and leaders can come together and contribute to the growth and well being of the community. The Center, which includes HUB East and West, houses five critical nonprofits, including  Augusta Locally Grown, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Augusta, the Harrisburg Family Healthcare Clinic, the Dr. Paulette P. Harris Literacy Center, and RISE Augusta. The HUB is also home to the HUB Youth Leadership Academy. Collectively, these partners represent the heart of what matters most to the Collaborative - wrapping our arms around the community through wellness, education, and fostering hope.
